Brevail was awarded an unprecedented, two consecutive, research grants in the course of the 6-year span in which Brevail was researched and developed. Below are the details regarding these grants and how they were applied.
December 1997
Lignan Research applies to the Washington Technology Center (WTC), University of Washington, for a biotechnology research grant entitled "Extraction and Isolation of Secoisolariciresinol Diglycoside from Flaxseed Meal."
March 1998
A two-year Biotechnology Research Grant entitled "Extraction and Isolation of Secoisolariciresinol Diglycoside from Flaxseed Meal" is awarded on behalf of the Washington Technology Center (WTC), University of Washington, to further research and development undertaken by Lignan Research. The WTC awards 1-2 million dollars a year in grant monies to innovative companies teaming with Washington State Universities in the development of joint technologies and toward products that show an exceptional likelihood of commercial success.
December 1999
A second Biotechnology Research Grant entitled "Lignan Based Strategies for Cancer Prevention" is applied for on behalf of Lignan Research to further research and develop lignan derived nutraceuticals. This grant, as with the first, was applied for at the Washington Technology Center (WTC), University of Washington.
January 2000
A second consecutive, two-year Biotechnology Research Grant entitled "Lignan Based Strategies for Cancer Prevention" is awarded on behalf of the Washington Technology Center (WTC), University of Washington, to further research and development undertaken by Lignan Research. The WTC awards 1-2 million dollars a year in grant monies to innovative companies teaming with Washington State Universities in the development of joint technologies and toward products that show an exceptional likelihood toward commercial success.
